Animal shelter of the City of Turku
If your pet has escaped, you can enquire for the little escapee from the animal shelter. Please also contact the animal shelter if you find a pet on the loose.
Pets
The Animal shelter takes care of found animals. This includes cats, dogs, and other pets. The police and the animal protection supervisor will be notified about a found animal.
Wild animals
The animal shelter also takes care of injured and malnourished wild animals. The wild animals are cared for by Turun eläinsuojeluyhdistys ry (Turku animal protection association).
Service area
In addition to Turku, we can receive animals from the following municipalities: Aura, Kaarina, Kustavi, Lieto, Marttila, Masku, Mynämäki, Naantali, Nousiainen, Paimio, Parainen, Pöytyä, Raisio, Rusko, Sauvo, Taivassalo, and Vehmaa.
If your pet goes missing or you find a pet on the loose
Please contact the animal shelter or the police if your pet goes missing or you find a pet on the loose. The pet can be surrendered to a new owner if it is not retrieved from the animal shelter in 16 days.
If you suspect that an animal is being treated badly/abused, contact the supervising veterinarian. Supervising veterinarian service area is Naantali, Raisio, Rusko, and Turku. Supervising veterinarian can be reached during office hours. Outside of office hours contact the police.
If you witness animal abuse, contact the police.
If you are disturbed in your apartment building or attached house by a barking dog, contact the property manager.
