    Booking a camping spot

    Rental period:  

    You can rent the campsite for:

    • 24 hours (starting at 5 p.m., ending at 2 p.m. the following day)
    • daytime use (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or
    • evening use (from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.)

    The campsite can be rented for a maximum of 10 days. Bookings for more than 10 days require a decision by the Director of Youth Services. If you would like to rent a campsite for a longer period of time, please contact nuoriso.varaukset@turku.fi. Please explain why you would need the campsite for a longer period in the message.

      Make a booking electronically

      Make a booking electronically in the Timmi system: Timmi system

      Reservation requests for campsites must be made at least 7 days before the start of the reservation. Last-minute reservations are not possible. We accept reservations until the end of the current year and from the end of the year, for two years on.

      You receive a booking confirmation

      Once the booking has been processed, you will receive a booking confirmation. 

    3. 3
      If necessary, contact the campsite employee

      With regard to reservations at Ahtela or Tippsund, contact the campsite employee before the booking period starts and agree on practical matters. In Vienola, renters get a door code that works during the reservation period. 

    Payment categories

    The price of the rental is determined by the payment category.

    Payment group 1 (discounted)

    • Child and youth groups of youth, sports, cultural and other recreational associations in Turku
    • groups of disability organisations
    • youth action groups
    • child and youth groups in other sectors of the City of Turku
    • associations, organisations and clubs from outside of Turku that will organise activities for children and young people in Turku during the reservation period.

    Payment group 2

    • Other users (adult groups, other associations, companies, private persons, etc.) 

    Campsites and prices

    Our rentals include the Ahtela youth camp centre, Vienola campsite and Tippsund campsite. The Ahtela Youth Centre is located in Sauvo, the Vienola camping area in Rymättylä and the Tippsund camping area in Taivassalo. 

    Vienola campsite

    The Vienola campsite has space for 18 people. Vienola is particularly suitable for organising school camps, for smaller celebrations, and for spending a weekend with friends.

    The Vienola campsite is owned by the City of Turku and located in Rymättylä, Naantali, on the sea shore. The size of the campsite is 4.8 hectares. The hut (82m²) fits 18 people. The area also has a shoreside kitchen and a covered dining shelter next to it. There is also a covered grill area outside that is equipped with lights. There are two piers.

    Prices include VAT. In addition to the rental price, we charge a user fee for groups of more than 18 people, which covers, for example, waste management costs. For more information, see Other fees. 

    Tippsund campsite

    The Tippsund campsite is ideal for organising camps, school camps, and training activities. There are a total of 50 beds.

    The Tippsund youth camp is located in Taivassalo by the sea. The area has 8 cottages, a maintenance building/canteen and a sauna.  

    The campsite has beds for 50 people. Each cottage can accommodate six people and there are two additional beds in the maintenance building. There are mattresses, pillows and blankets in the beds; bring your own sheets and pillowcases!

    The maintenance building and sauna have running water, but the huts do not. There are also no indoor toilets but the outdoor toilets are right by the huts.

    Ahtela Youth Camp Centre

    The Ahtela campsite is suitable for organising camps and events of different sizes. The centre can accommodate around 100 people, but large camps (2,500–3,000 people) can also be arranged here. The buildings in Ahtela can also be rented individually.

    The Ahtela Youth Camp Centre is located in Sauvo. There is space for 98 people in seven different buildings, or for 118 in the summer with small cottages in use.  

    The entire camp centre area can be rented out. Many large camps (2,500–3,000 people) have indeed been organised there, spreading throughout the camp area. We also rent the buildings in Ahtela individually all year round.

    The fee for using the Ahtela campsite includes:

    • rented accommodation/facilities, Majakka, Luotsi or Kutteri
    • electricity, water, firewood and cleaning supplies
    • access to campsite’s leisure facilities (e.g. playing fields, beach, disc golf course)
    • access to boats, canoes and SUP boards
    • access to the grill site in the vicinity of the building  

    In addition to the rental price, we charge a user fee for groups of more than 120 people, which covers, for example, waste management costs. For more information, see Other fees. 

    Other fees

    We charge additional fees, for example for camps that exceed the maximum number of campers, facilities left uncleaned, and special arrangements required by large camps.

    If you organise events of more than 120 people in Ahtela, more than 18 people in Vienola or more than 50 people in Tippsund, we will charge some of the costs separately. For larger camps, the following costs are covered separately:  

    • cleaning supplies
    • toilet paper, trolleys, paper towels, replacement fees for Lindström rental rug, etc.
    • water, based on consumption
    • electricity, based on consumption
    • waste fees (draining) 

    We invoice €400/h + kilometre allowances if the reserved space has not been cleaned.

    We invoice the camp organiser for special arrangements and extra supplies (e.g. the toilet, water and waste management arrangements for large camps) if we have to procure services from an external service provider.

    Cancelling a reservation

    You can cancel the reservation free of charge one month before the booking date. You can cancel the reservation through the Timmi system if you have submitted the booking request electronically.  

    Otherwise, cancel by sending an e-mail to nuoriso.varaukset@turku.fi. 

    We charge a cancellation fee for bookings cancelled less than one month before the booking date. The payment is based on the time of the cancellation. 

    • under 1 month until reservation: 30% of booking price
    • under 2 weeks: 50% of booking price
    • under 1 week: 100% of booking price 

    Principles and instructions for using the campsite

     

    Users are responsible for keeping order during their reservation and that the facilities, areas and equipment are used appropriately. The person in charge indicated in the reservation confirmation is responsible for:

    1. Familiarising themselves with the safety and operating instructions of the space and ensuring that they are followed.
    2. Collecting the key in advance or at the start of the reservation according to instructions from the Youth Services, if necessary.
    3. Keeping a record of persons arriving and leaving the campsite during the reservation period.
    4. Cooperating with customer service and facility or campsite personnel.
    5. Making sure that order is maintained during the reservation.
    6. Ensuring that the allocated operating times are observed.
    7. Making sure that no external persons are present in the reserved youth facilities or campsites.
    8. Recording complete entries in the youth facility’s guestbook and in the campsite forms.
    9. Reporting any accidents in the space or area to youth services personnel.
    10. Before leaving, checking that the space, area, supplies and equipment are tidied and left in the same condition as they were at the start of the reservation.  

    Bringing and using intoxicants at a youth facility, its area or a youth campsite is strictly prohibited when the reservation is a public event or an event for people under the age of 18, or takes place in the immediate vicinity of young people under the age of 18. (Alcohol Act 1143/1994, Tobacco Act 549/2016). If the event organised in the youth centre or campsite is a closed event where alcoholic beverages are consumed and no activities are organised for people under the age of 18 in the building or area at the same time, the person in charge must ensure that the police is notified of the event in accordance with section 59 of the Alcohol Act.

    Bringing pets to youth facilities and campsites is prohibited. Service dogs are welcome at the Ahtela and Tippsund campsites, and the dog and its owner will stay in a previously agreed building (Ahtela 1 log cabin and Tippsund cottage 5)
