The Mayor and Deputy Mayors are elected by the City Council for a four-year term. Members of the Mayor's Office are full-time elected officials.
The Mayor of Turku is Piia Elo (SDP). The Deputy Mayors are Sini Ruohonen (NCP), Urban Environment, Elina Rantanen (Greens), Children and Young People, and Mirka Muukkonen (Left), Wel-being.
Duties of the Mayor
Mayor Piia Elo chairs the City Board and the Group Division. According to the Municipalities Act, the Mayor leads the city's operations, administration and financial management.
Duties of the Deputy Mayors
The Deputy Mayors act as vice chairpersons of the City Board and chairpersons of the Committees.
Deputy Mayor for Urban Environment Sini Ruohonen is the 1st vice chairperson of the City Board and chairperson of the Urban Environment Committee.
Deputy Mayor for Children and Young People Elina Rantanen is the 2nd vice chairperson of the City Board and chairperson of the Children and Young People's Services Committee.
Deputy Mayor for Well-being Mirka Muukkonen is the 3rd vice chairperson of the City Board and chairperson of the Culture and Sports Committee.
