What is student guidance counselling?
Student counselling provides support in planning your future and further studies. Counselling is available to all pupils in basic education. In primary school, the class teacher is responsible for student counselling. In lower secondary school, the guidance counsellor is responsible.
The aim of student counselling is to help you identify your strengths and interests. Counselling increases your knowledge of working life, develops your study skills and strengthens your ability to make choices.
Student counselling includes group lessons as well as individual guidance. The guidance counsellor discusses especially your study options after basic education. The counsellor does not make decisions for you but helps you clarify your thoughts and provides information about different opportunities. If you need extensive individual support, you can receive intensified personal guidance from grade 8 onwards.
