The Urban Environment Committee oversees the planning of the city’s land use, transport and public areas, and monitors the state of the built, cultural and natural environments. Furthermore, the committee oversees the management of city-owned land, the construction and upkeep of streets and public areas, and the building of new facilities.
The committee has 13 members selected by the City Council. Each member has a personal deputy.
