Targets of the project
The project targets are divided into three groups:
- Strengthening new innovation and competence
- Strengthening the competence of the Turku region and the city´s ability to respond to the needs of the labor market and business life
- Developing continuous learning and strengthening the competence potential
Strengthening new innovation and knowledge clusters
We are planning three new attractive knowledge clusters, that will strengthen the city’s international business and economic development and competitiveness:
- science and technology
- well-being and exercise
- culture and art
These clusters bring together higher education institutions, secondary schools and liberal adult education. Shared learning environments and collaboration with business life create new top know-how. Turku develops into an even stronger study city and elevates the profile of research, development and innovation activities nationally and globally.
Existing campus networks support the building of new knowledge clusters.
Strengthening business and economic development of Turku and answering to the competence needs of work life
We are answering to the needs of work life and improving our ability to answer to the changing competence needs with concrete solutions:
- developing models for businesses and workplaces
- supporting the preparedness and networking of teachers, so that education and work life can collaborate more closely
- furthering the employment of higher education students together with work life
Talent Turku activities ease labour immigration and support utilising international talents. We provide together with Business Turku customer-oriented services to employers and international talents.
Using the Talent Turku model, our goal is that Turku region is an attractive place to work, study, start a company and invest to. We ensure, that the region’s employers can and want to recruit international talents. We are competing in global markets for talents, which is why attracting talents to Turku is crucial.
Development of continuous learning
In Turku, we bring out everyone’s competence, no matter the age, background or gender. We are highlighting also the skills gained in everyday life and outside official education. We are especially concentrating on digital skills, literacy and equal development.
We are working together with other big cities to develop solutions, that will diminish the inequality of education and competence.
