Major meetings
At the Turku Children’s Parliament assemblies, there are two representatives from all primary schools in Turku, and it is a channel for communicating the opinions, proposals and feedback of children and young people to the city’s sectors, elected officials and decision-makers.
The Board
The Board works on the initiatives received from the student unions of primary schools, to forward them and to prepare the forthcoming major meetings of the Turku Children’s Parliament. The joy of working together is the driving force of the Board’s work.
How to become a member of the Board?
The Board of the Turku Children’s Parliament consists of 12 members. The Board is elected for one academic year at a time.
During the spring season, an organisational meeting of the Turku Children’s Parliament will be held at which a new Board will be elected by means of a secret ballot for the following academic year. 10 members shall be elected to the Board.
Students in grades 4–5 attending a primary school in Turku may stand as candidates. Each primary school in Turku can nominate one representative who has been elected by the school through their own election.
Two members of the previous Board will continue on the board. If there are more than two willing to continue, the members will vote on who gets to remain. If there are no candidates, a total of 12 members will be elected at the organisation meeting.
