Notify of traffic arrangements to transport operators and events
Notify the Public Transport Office of the City of Turku about any exceptional traffic arrangements by a free-form email.
- joukkoliikenne@turku.fi.
Events with a large number of attendees must be notified so that the public transport office can operate more services if necessary.
Removing parked vehicles
Sometimes parked vehicles need to be moved for temporary traffic arrangements. The city has signs requesting car owners to move their vehicle that you can borrow for this purpose.
- A written permit must always be applied for temporary traffic arrangements. The permits are granted by the City of Turku’s Urban Environment Services Puolalankatu 5, 20100 Turku. Send an e-mail application to the registry kaupunkiymparistotoimiala@turku.fi
If any vehicles need to be towed, contact ajoneuvosiirot@turku.fi,
tel. +358 505 566 572 or +358 401 960 365.
The signs requesting owners to move their vehicles must be in place at least 48 hours before the request takes effect. Please note that you must ensure sufficient time between the start of the event or work and the request taking effect so that any vehicles parked in the area can be moved in good time.
The timetables and the placement/plan of the request signs must also be discussed with the vehicle tow-away unit at least 2 weeks before the vehicle is moved to ensure that there are resources available for moving the vehicles. This is particularly important if the removal is scheduled to take place on the weekend, or if the area is large and there are many vehicles to be moved.
- You can borrow request signs and concrete blocks from the warehouse of the Turku Urban Environment services. The warehouse is open from 7 am to 3 pm. However, you should contact us well in advance in matters related to borrowing our equipment, tel. +358 505 566 572 or +358 401 960 365. The warehouse is located at Kuparikatu 13. Please note that the signs and concrete blocks are heavy (approx. 200 kg), so make sure you have the equipment to move and place them. The vehicle tow-away unit drafts a plan for the placement of the signs which is handed over to you when picking up the signs.
- Once the request signs have been placed as agreed, the vehicle tow-away unit handles the documentation related to the placement of the signs and possible vehicle removals.
- After the end of the event or work, the person in charge must immediately return the
traffic to normal and return the borrowed supplies to the Kuparikatu warehouse.
