Service description
Turku Game Academy (TGA) organises game and e-sports activities for young people in Turku and its vicinity. You can participate in the activities either on-site in the Nexus game space or remotely on the Discord server. A youth counsellor is always involved in the activities.
TGA’s base is the Game Space Nexus, which is located in the Aunela multi-purpose facility. Nexus is open approximately three days per week, and there is plenty to do from open evenings to esports groups and various events.
Who is the service intended for?
Turku Game Academy is aimed at 9–20-year-olds. Participants must have a valid youth card.
Instructions for use
You can come to Nexus during the opening hours. You do not need to book a time slot in advance for gaming in Nexus.
However, advance registration is needed for events and Discord game evenings. You can find up-to-date information on the upcoming events on Turku Game Academy’s Instagram @turku_game_academy.
Time slots and games
- Spots are filled in the order of arrival. If there is a waitlist, the game time is about an hour. While waiting for your turn, there are many other activities in the youth centre and library.
- The computers in Nexus have the most popular competitive games, and more games can be installed according to the visitors’ wishes. There are plenty of free games online, and the youth counsellor is happy to teach you how to play them.
User IDs for games
- You use your own user IDs for gaming. The game space does not offer guest user IDs for gaming.
- Gamers under the age of 13 must create gaming IDs together with the guardian.
Game age limits
- The activities comply with the PEGI age limits set for games.
- The Nexus game space is divided into two parts with screen in between so that young people can play games suitable for their age. For example, one half of the game space is reserved for those under the age of 12 and the other half for 12-year-olds and older during game events.
- PEGI18 rated games are prohibited in the game space.
