Parking tickets and demand for rectification
You get a parking ticket when you break:
- the bans and restrictions related to vehicle stopping and parking.
- rules and regulations related to the usage of a parking disc.
- the bans and restrictions related to idle running vehicles.
The amount of the ticket and payment
The amount of the ticket is 80 € in parking zone 1. In other places in Turku it is 60 €.
Pay the ticket in 30 days. We will rase the fee by 14€ as fixed by the law, if the ticket is paid late. Remember to use a reference number when paying the invoice.
You can also pay the ticket in service desk Monitori at Market Square.
Demand for rectification
You can appeal a parking ticket and make a demand for rectification, if you as the vehicles driver think that you were given a unfounded parking ticket. In your appeal you must give a through reasoning for your demand for rectification. The reasoning of you did not know, see, or look for the traffic signs is usually not enough.
Make an appeal in writing within 30 days of when you were given a parking ticket. Demand for rectification for a parking violation ticket
You can also make a demand for rectification in Monitori at Market Square or send it by post to: Pysäköinninvalvonta, PL 500, 20101 Turku.
Processing a demand for rectification
The processing time for a demand for rectification is about 2 to 4 weeks at the moment. During the processing a demand for rectification we make your invoice passive.
After the processing is done, we send you a decision in writing by post and with the decision there is a new invoice with a new due date, if we deny the demand for rectification or decide not to investigate the matter.
Private area parking control and control contracts
Our parking control also helps with issues of parking in private areas. We will help to the extent possible when the official representative of a private area makes a request to our parking control. Private areas must have traffic signs in accordance with the Road Traffic Act, for it to be supervised under the Road Traffic Act.
Permanent control and authority
A representative of a private area can also make a more permanent supervision contract with our parking control.
Our supervision covers the entire private plot, including the grounds (the lawn for example), but not the resident’s or business’ rental places if there is no separate agreement with our parking control. Our supervision is regularly irregular.
Likely in the beginning the need for supervision is higher and in time the need decreases. The supervision of rental places is left for the requests of the representative of the plot (if there is no separate agreement for something else.) If there is a time limit on the quest parking spaces, mark the information clearly on the quest spots that the time of parking must be clearly told. The time of parking must be told if the maximum parking time is less than 6 hours (6 h).
We recommend that you give notice the residents and/or businesses of the area about the parking control, before we start the supervision. This transfers responsibility of the parking ticket from the housing association to the driver. In addition, the notice prematurely decreases incorrect parking and the workload of our traffic wardens.
For a parking control contract an official representative of the private area must fill out an “Supervision authorisation (valvontavaltuus)” form. Deliver the filled-out authorisation form to parking control.
- Notify us about all the P-permits (for example for a property maintenance company) and deliver copies of them with the authorisation to parking control.
- Notify us if the parking of mopeds and motorcycles is allowed outside of parking spaces. The recommendation is to not allow this for safety reasons.
- We also recommend that Varha is temporarily permitted to park in the area if their official duties require it, as long as the parking does not cause danger, obstacle or unnecessary inconvenience to other traffic.
Attachments:
- Please attach a map of the plot to help our traffic controller’s activity.
- Please mark on the map if there are spots where illegal parking regularly happens if you have noticed them.
Attention! If there are special parking spaces or events, we hope you notify us through the parking control customer service (02-2624015 or pysakointi@turku.fi) so we can pass it along to our traffic controllers.
