Come and test your physical fitness
The Test Day for Seniors is a free event aimed at all senior citizens in Turku, offering an opportunity to assess physical fitness and functional capacity. During the test day, you can participate in various assessments under the guidance of professionals, providing insights into aspects such as muscle strength and balance. You may choose to take part in all the tests or select the ones that suit you best.
The event also offers guidance for home exercises, nutritional counseling, and fall risk assessment. Additionally, you’ll find information about the city's wide range of physical activity services.
The Test Day for Seniors is organised twice a year, in spring and in autumn. It is carried out by the City of Turku’s Sports Services and Varha’s home rehabilitation centers, in cooperation with associations, clubs, and educational institutions.

Instructions for part-taking in a Test Day
The Test Day is free of charge and open to everyone. We open at 9 and close at 13. You may continue with the tests until 13.30. At first, there may be crowding, so if only possible, please come a little later.
There are plenty of charged parking in close proximity to the arena. In addition, several of Föli's bus routes go past the arena.
The entrance on the Test Day is at the upper floor through the glass doors (from the parking lot side).
You can leave your clothes at the gallery or in the locker rooms on the lower level. Please keep your valuables with you. At the lower level, there are lockable cabinets available (50 cents deposit).
When you have arrived, you get two test forms that you need to fill in with necessary details before you move on to the testing stations.
The event has six testing stations that are marked with blue balloons.
You do not have to follow a specific order, when moving from one station to another; you can go where the line is shortest.
You do not have to take all tests. You can complete the tests according to your own physical fitness and feeling. You part-take in tests at your own risk.
The 1 kilometre walking test is executed outdoors in proximity to the arena. The weather does not affect the execution. This year you do not have to sign up in advance to take the test. At the testing station you get more detailed instructions on how to execute the test.
In addition to the tests, there are different information points that are marked with green balloons. They provide counselling about nutrition, exercising at home, assessing the risk of falling, as well as counselling given by a physiotherapist.
The City's Sports Services as well as clubs and associations give information to the part-takers about different exercising options. Respecta and Suomen apuvälinekauppa (Finland's Assistive Tools Shop) are present during the day in order to boost awareness about assistive tools.
Before leaving, please make sure to return the test forms in the box in front of the entrance. Check that all results are marked on both forms.
If you have lost anything during the day, you can ask about lost belongings at the event's information desk.
