Familiarisation period and initial discussion
Once you have accepted an early childhood education place, please contact the director of the day care centre to arrange an introductory period and a starting date for your child. During the introductory period, the carer will be with the child for a few hours a day. Before this, an early childhood education contract is drawn up with the director of the day care centre.
The time of the initial interview with the staff of the group. During the initial interview, the child's interests, eating and sleeping habits, daily rhythm, cooperation and other issues are discussed, which help the group staff to support the child individually and facilitate the child's start in Early childhood education and care.
The daily routine of early childhood education and care is made up of clear and predictable routines.
The nursery follows a daily pedagogically planned timetable, including outdoor activities, meals and rest periods.
The child's adaptation to Early childhood education and care is individual. Sometimes it can happen very quickly, sometimes it can take several months.
However, it is generally recommended that the child's days are shorter at first and gradually lengthen as the child gets used to them. You can discuss with your childcare staff ways of easing your child's discomfort at home if necessary.
Cooperation between family and staff
Open interaction between home and early childhood education and care is crucial. We work together in an educational partnership, where together we lay the foundations for a child's balanced development and learning. Please remember to report any absences, illnesses, allergies or other changes to the early childhood education and care centre so that we can allocate staff and other resources to the right places.
Once the staff have got to know the child well enough, an appointment is made with the carers for a child's early childhood education interview. This is a discussion of issues important to the child and the child's development, which staff use to support the child's growth, development and learning. Staff are bound by confidentiality in matters concerning children and families and will deal with matters in confidence.
