Volunteer activities at the library support active citizenship, inclusion and a sense of community. Volunteers help the library reflect the community it serves. Activities run by volunteers do not replace the work of library staff.

Civic action

The library supports civic activities and city residents’ participation by offering space for citizens’ petitions. To submit a petition, please email the Director of Library Services.  

Volunteers for the Multilingual Language Café

The Library’s Multilingual Language Café is a relaxed and informal meeting place for people interested in languages and cultures. Volunteers speaking different languages lead discussions at the Language Café tables. All languages are welcome.

If you would like to facilitate a language table, you can sign up as a volunteer by emailing monikielinen@turku.fi.

The Language Café meets once a month for one hour at a time. You can volunteer for just one session or participate regularly.
