Reading Volunteers
Reading Volunteers read aloud to older people and people with disabilities in places such as sheltered housing and care homes. As a Reading Volunteer, you can help those who cannot read on their own. Reading together brings joy and social interaction to their day.
Reading Volunteers can read to one person or a small group. The reading sessions last from 30 minutes to one hour.
Reading Volunteers can choose how often, what, and where they read. However, the library hopes that they will commit to regular visits. The library matches each volunteer with a suitable care home and helps them find suitable reading material.
