Reading tips
Through the library's youth collection, we want to share stories and promote reading. The youth collection should also inspire and support growth and enable us to explore new things and ideas.
In the youth sections of libraries, you can find highlighted books and reading recommendations on a variety of themes and topical subjects. You can always ask the staff for reading recommendations.
The Vaski online library has a dedicated page for young people, with lots of recommendations and book tips for many different life situations. Adults can also discover young people's literature.
Multilingual literature and easy language literature
Books and other materials for young people are available in dozens of
languages. There is also a wide range of youth material available in easy language.
Youth events
Youth department Story organises many events and workshops for young people. We highlight topics and phenomena of interest to young people. The events are aimed at young people aged 13-19. Events for young people are also organized in local libraries. Some events are organised in cooperation with organisations and other actors in the field of youth culture.
Items on loan from the Youth section
More than just books can be borrowed from the library. Circus equipment, a skateboard, and a helmet are available for borrowing from the youth section.
Hansa, Vimma and Turku Girls´ House
Hansa Youth Centre in Hansakortteli, Vimma Art and Activity Centre for Youth, and Turku Girls' House have a small collection of books for young people. The books can be read on the spot or taken home to read.
These small libraries operate based on trust, so you don’t need a card to borrow books. Books may be returned to Hansa, Vimma, Girls' House, or any of the city libraries in Turku.
