Health Services in Turku
If you have a domicile in Turku, you can use public health services. Public health services are provided by health centers, dental clinics, maternity clinics, and hospitals. If you are not entitled to use public health services, you can seek help from a private medical clinic.
There are six regional health centers and two local service points in Turku, as well as a Swedish-speaking reception. Your own health center is the primary place of care in all cases of illness. School health services assist students with physical and mental health-related issues. School health services are free for all primary school students.

Child Health

Oral Health Care
Oral health care takes care of the teeth and oral health of Turku residents. Dental care is provided in 14 dental clinics. The clinics are often located in connection with health centers. For information about dental care for preschool children, you can contact the child health clinic. Dental care for school-aged children is arranged through the school.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services
In Turku, your own health center is always the primary place for treating mental health issues. Health centers are responsible for preventing mental health problems, recognizing symptoms, and treating the most common and mild psychiatric illnesses such as depression, panic disorder, and life crises.
The locations of health centers can be found on the Varha website and are categorized by age groups. Mental health services are also provided in child health clinics, school health services, social work services, and home care for the elderly.
For children's and adolescents' mental health issues, contact the child health clinic, school nurse, or your local health center. If a doctor assesses that a child or adolescent needs specialized medical care, they will make a referral to the psychiatric specialized medical care of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland.

Disability services are intended for individuals whose illness, disability, or functional limitation is long-term or permanent, and who therefore need essential support and assistance in daily activities.
The goal of the Disability Services of the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland is to support the work and functional capacity as well as the independence of persons with disabilities. Services and support measures in accordance with the Disability Services Act facilitate the daily activities of persons with disabilities.
