Call for exhibitions
There will be an annual open call for exhibition applications to the library exhibition space. The call opens in September (2025 in October as an exception).
Applicants will learn the decisions at the end of November. Exhibition slot is for one calendar month (4-6 weeks). Exhibition space is rent-free.
Individuals, communities or teams, professional artists, amateur artists or hand-crafters and organizations show-casing their activities can all apply for an exhibition slot. You can propose an event in connection with the exhibition in the same application form.
During the application period you can also propose other performative content or an event within the library that is not tied to the exhibition space or month. Information about selected event porposals comes at the same time as the exhibition decisions.
You can also organize an exhibition in one of the branch libraries by asking directly.
Selection criteria
The library wants to offer space especially for local people active in the cultural field and local organizations.
This open call stresses diversity and multivocality, interesting content, topicality and suitability for the library space.
Library is an open-access space, therefore all exhibitions must be suitable for all audiences. Exhibition is not a show room and selling exhibition pieces is strictly forbidden.
Exhibition space and furnishings
Space reserved for exhibition use can be found in the new library buildings lobby and the 2nd floor lobby in the non-fiction department. Lobby exhibition space consists of floor space, portable cabinets, free-standing screens and the three fixed cabinets in the 2nd floor lobby.
