In 2026, Suomi.fi Messages will be activated for all adults who use digital services and who have not yet activated this service. The service will be activated when a person identifies themselves for the first time in an e-services of an authority in 2026.
What is it about?
Suomi.fi Messages is a service that allows you to read letters sent by authorities in electronic form, either via the Suomi.fi mobile app or in the web service at suomi.fi/messages.
In the Turku employment region, official letters include, for example, certain labour market policy statements, requests for clarification, reminders, and selection information for labour market training.
Starting from May 12, 2025, all adult users have been offered the option to adopt Suomi.fi Messages when using strong authentication on JobMarket Finland or another electronic authority service. The notification will appear if Suomi.fi Messages is not yet in use. The use of the service will expand at the beginning of 2026, when messages will be automatically enabled during identification.
Good to know
- When Suomi.fi Messages is in use, you will receive letters related to employment matters and other official communications only electronically. You will no longer receive letters by post.
- If you cancel the use of messages, you will receive letters by post.
- You can change the way you receive messages in the settings of the Suomi.fi service after logging in.
- Even if you do not enable Suomi.fi Messages, you can still receive general emails sent by the Turku Employment Region related to employment promotion (e.g., information about recruitment events).
How can you read electronic messages?
- You can read official messages received in Suomi.fi Messages in the Suomi.fi mobile app or by logging in to the Suomi.fi web service and navigating to the “Messages” section.
- Identification is done with online banking credentials, a mobile certificate, or the electronic certificate on an ID card.
- You will receive an email notification whenever a new message arrives in Suomi.fi Messages. You will also receive notifications in the Suomi.fi mobile app if you have downloaded the app.
