Skiing schools teach children the tips and tricks of skiing in line with their skill level.

What is a skiing school?

Skiing schools teach children the tips and tricks of skiing in line with their skill level and age. Our course selection offers options for both beginners and slightly more experienced skiers.

We organise skiing schools on weekends in January and February and on weekdays during Christmas and winter holidays if there is enough snow.

We have the skiing schools on the Toddler Loop ski track in Impivaara.

Course options:

  • Beginner course for 5–7-year-olds: During the course, we practise the basics of skiing, such as falling down, getting up and classic skiing techniques (diagonal stride and double poling). We also practise easy turns and going up and down hills. Requirements: the child must be able to participate without parental presence.
  • Beginner course 2 for 6–9-year-olds: During the course, we practise classic skiing techniques, such as double poling, diagonal stride and kick double poling. We get more confident about going down hills and controlling the skis. Requirement: has completed the beginner course and/or has some previous skiing experience.
  • Advanced course for over 10-year-olds: During the course, we strengthen classic skiing techniques, such as double poling, diagonal stride and kick double poling. We get more confident about going down hills and controlling the skis. Requirement: average skiing skills and good enough constitution to complete the Impivaara ski loop (1.7 km).

Who can attend a skiing school?

Ski schools are for 5–10-year-old children. Participants do not need to be residents of Turku.

The child must fulfil the requirements of the group. We do not recommend entering your child in a group with older or more skilled skiers to make sure that your child gets the most joy and experiences of success from the ski school.

Instructions for attending and registering

Sign your child up for a group that matches their skill level. The course fee is paid at the ski rental.

Bring your own ski equipment. You can also rent the equipment at an affordable price from the ski rental located in the immediate vicinity of the Toddler Loop track.
