The applications call for exhibition spaces at the Turku City Library Main Library for 2027 will be open from 1 to 30 September 2026. The open call, available to everyone, promotes transparency and equality in the use of the Main Library’s exhibition facilities.

– Last year, we organized an open call for the Main Library’s exhibition spaces for the first time and received a gratifying number of interesting applications, resulting in a diverse exhibition programme. I am excited to see what kind of proposals we will receive this year. We also want to provide space for performing arts, so applicants are welcome to propose event-based content alongside exhibition ideas, says Suvi Kiukas, Event Information Specialist.

The 2027 Exhibition Call Emphasises Diversity of Perspectives

As in previous years, exhibition time may be applied for by individuals, organisations, working groups, professional artists, photography or crafts enthusiasts, and associations wishing to present their activities. The library particularly wishes to provide exhibition opportunities for local cultural actors and non-profit organisations.

The selection process will place emphasis on diversity and multiple perspectives, as well as the attractiveness, timeliness and suitability of exhibition content for the library environment. Exhibition periods are typically granted for approximately one calendar month. No rental fee is charged for the exhibition spaces.

Exhibition selections are made by the library’s exhibition working group, and applicants will be informed of the decisions by the end of November 2026.

Exhibition space is available in the ground-floor lobby of the Main Library’s new building and in the second-floor lobby of the new building, located within the library’s non-fiction department.

In addition to the Main Library, exhibitions can also be arranged at one of the Turku City Library branch libraries by contacting the library in question directly to inquire about available exhibition periods.
