Voting is a way to have an impact. Elected representatives take care of our shared matters and represent their voters in decision-making.

General national elections held in Finland

  • Parliamentary elections every four years – next election on 18 April 2027
  • County and municipal elections together every four years – next elections on 15 April 2029
  • European Parliament elections every five years – next election on 10 June 2029
  • Presidential election every six years – next election on 27 January 2030


The Ministry of Justice is responsible for organising national elections together with the municipalities. In Turku, the City’s central election committee is responsible for the practical election arrangements, such as polling stations and vote counting.

The 2025 county and municipal elections in Turku

The county and municipal elections were held at the same time in April 2025.

In the municipal elections, members were elected to Turku City Council for the four-year council term 2025–2029. More information about Turku City Council

In the county elections, councillors were elected to the county council of the Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland, Varha. The wellbeing services county is responsible for organising health and social services as well as rescue services in its area.
