Hiking and activities for the whole family
Saaronniemi is a popular family destination by the sea. You can explore the surrounding nature by walking along the network of trails in the area.
Kolkannokka, which was an island in its own just over a hundred years ago, is a world of its own. There you can watch Airisto on the beach rocks, feel the power of the sea and the rugged beauty of the archipelago's nature.
From Saaronniemi, you can also see the towering Kukkarokivi, Finland's largest clearly visible erratic boulder, rising from the sea. The rock is protected as a natural monument and a bird nesting site.
There is a legend that Killi, one of the giants who built the church in Raisio, threw Kukkarokivi on the beach. The giants Killi and Nalli quarreled with the priest over money after the construction of the church in Raisio and threatened to break the church on a rocky boulder. The giants couldn't find their way back to the church, so Killi, in a huff, threw the rock back into the sea, where it now stands.
