Learn to swim at Samppalinna
Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium organises beginner level swimming schools for children during the summer. The swimming schools are meant for children, who do not know how to swim or can only swim a couple of metres.
For who is the swimming school suitable?
Beginner group A is for children, who cannot swim and are afraid to put their head under water.
Beginner group B is for children, who cannot swim but are not afraid to put their head under water.
The swimming school age limit must be reached during the swimming school at the latest.
The price for the swimming school is 30€ + entrance fee.
The course fee is paid when arriving for the first lesson. The entrance fee can be paid separately each time or by buying a serial wristband.
Arrival
- The course fee of 30€ is paid at the cash register on the first swimming school session.
- In addition to the course fee, an entrance fee is paid either as a one-time payment or by loading a serial wristband.
- The entrance fee is loaded onto a wristband, which also works as a locker key.
- The wristband is shown to the reader at the entrance gate, and you enter through the gate (the swimming school child goes under the gate, and the accompanying person enters through the gate with their wristband).
Accompanying Person
- One accompanying person may enter the pool with the swimming school child.
- If the accompanying person also wants to swim, they need to pay their own swimming fee.
- If the accompanying person leaves the pool during the swimming school session, they should ask the cashier to open the gate when going in and out.
Before the Lesson Starts
- The accompanying person brings the swimming school child, who has already showered, to the pool area and to the low side of the bleachers next to the swimming supervision, where the swimming instructor takes attendance. Be on time!
- Bring a warm bathrobe or towel for the swimming school child in case of cold weather.
- The child may bring their own swim goggles if they have them.
- Remind the swimming school child to use the bathroom before the lesson starts.
- Swimming school is held even in rain or cold weather, and in case of thunderstorms, the situation will be assessed on site.
After the Lesson
- The swimming instructor is responsible for the children throughout the lesson.
- The accompanying person must be present to receive the swimming school child at the end of the lesson, by the bleachers next to the swimming supervision.
- The accompanying person takes the child to the shower/sauna and helps with changing clothes.
Cancellation of the Spot
- If you are unable to attend the swimming school, please cancel in advance. This allows the next person on the waiting list to take the spot.
- Cancellations can be made via the online service or by calling the swimming supervision. Instructions will be provided after registration.
Illnesses and Absences
- Inform the swimming instructor about any long-term illnesses (diabetes, epilepsy, etc.) or other matters that might affect participation in swimming school, such as fear of water or concentration difficulties.
- Absences of 1–2 lessons are not compensated and cannot be made up for in another group.
- In the case of prolonged illness (over 75% of the course), a partial refund of the course fee may be issued upon presentation of a medical certificate.
