Turku Tramway is a comprehensive urban development project that defines the development of Turku and the urban region over decades.
A 12-kilometre tramway will be built in Turku from Linnakaupunki via the city centre and Kupittaa to Varissuo. The tramway will provide Turku residents with a high-capacity public transport service as part of Föli’s services. Trams will return to Turku in 2033. The decision is conditional and relies on securing government funding in the next MAL negotiations.
Construction of the Turku tramway will be carried out by the Turku Tramway Alliance during the years 2026–2033. The alliance consists of Turku Tramway Ltd and the City of Turku as clients, Ramboll Finland Oy and Sweco Finland Oy as the planners, and GRK Suomi Oy and NRC Group Finland Oy as the builders.
