Pools and facilities

Samppalinna has room for swimmers, water runners, divers, and those who just want to splash around.

People who cannot swim and children under the age of 10 are welcome only when accompanied by an adult who can swim. Swimming and outdoor time continues for half an hour after the ticket office closes. The aim is to keep the water temperature in all pools at a minimum of 27 degrees.

Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium has:

  • Large 50-metre pool, depth 1.0–4.5 m
  • Diving tower
  • Children’s pool with a slide, depth 0.20–0.75 m
  • Changing rooms, showers, toilets, and a sauna on both the women’s and men’s sides
  • Large sunbathing terraces and lawn areas

Swim gear that can be borrowed

Swimwear and towels can be rented from the ticket office if needed.

Water running belts, flotation aids for children and some swimming training equipment for adults, such as kickboards, pull buoys and hand paddles, can be borrowed from the lifeguards.

You may also use your own clean flotation aids, water toys and swimming equipment, with the exception of large inflatable swimming mattresses.

Diving tower

  • The diving tower has three diving platforms: 5 m, 7.5 m and 10 m.
  • In addition, the 1-metre springboard is available to customers in the mornings from 8.00 onwards. When the diving platforms are open, the springboard is closed.
  • The diving platforms are kept open for 15–45 minutes at a time, depending on the number of divers.
  • The platforms will not be opened in heavy rain.
  • Events and staff shortages may cause changes or cancellations to the opening of the diving platforms.
  • When the platforms are open, some of the lap swimming lanes and the water running area will be closed.

  • Mon–Fri at 18.00
  • Sat and Sun at 12.30 and 15.00


During the school summer holiday:

  • Mon–Fri at 12.30, 15.00 and 18.00
  • Sat–Sun at 12.30 and 15.00

Café and snacks

Café Pikku Otava, located in the pool area, offers refreshments and food for both small and bigger appetites.

You may also bring your own snacks to the outdoor swimming stadium area.

Drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking are prohibited.

Lifeguard supervision and first aid

The lifeguards’ workstation is located in the pool area. First aid equipment and a defibrillator are available at the lifeguard station.
