Christmas can be a time of joy and togetherness for many, but for others it can feel lonely or challenging. There is a wide range of help and support available in Turku. Find out more about where to find help and how you can get involved in bringing the Christmas spirit.

Food-aid and financial assistance

In Turku, food assistance is available at several points, and up-to-date information is available at ruoka-apu.fi.

In addition, Pelastakaa Lapset offers support to families in financial distress. You can apply for support via their website.

Mental health and crisis support

If the festive season is a time of anxiety, MIELI ry's crisis centres are there for you. You can go there to talk and you don't have to be alone.

Support service for homeless people

The Shelter of Turku is open 24/7 all year round.

The parishes of Turku and Kaarina can be contacted as usual for financial or food assistance. During the Christmas period, the deaconry workers for the homeless will be available on weekdays and Varikko in the city centre will be open at least 22–23 December, 29–30 December.

How you can help

If you want to do more, volunteer for food distribution or church activities. Volunteering is a great way to bring joy - and it makes you feel good too!
