At low-threshold drop-in events held around the city, residents will have the opportunity to discuss questions related to the planning and possible construction of the tramway with planners and the Mayor’s Office.
In addition to experts from the City of Turku and the Turku Tramway Alliance, Mayor Piia Elo and Deputy Mayors Mirka Muukkonen, Elina Rantanen and Sini Ruohonen will attend. The mayors are present at events on a varying basis. The events offer residents the opportunity to learn more about the tramway plans and ask questions directly from responsible parties.
Four events will be held in early March:
- Turku Main Library Tuesday 3 March, 5–7 pm
- Prisma Itäharju Monday 9 March, 5–7 pm
- K-Citymarket Länsikeskus Thursday 12 March, 5–7 pm
- Varissuo Shopping Centre Monday 16 March, 5–7 pm
The events are open to everyone and no advance registration is required.
the City Council of Turku is scheduled to decide in summer 2026 whether the tramway will be built or not. If construction proceeds, tram services would begin in 2033.
