Turku City Library library system is being updated, due to which all library locations are closed on Monday 23rd of March and the library buses aren’t running. The online library services won’t be available during the update either.
The library system update begins on Sunday evening the 22nd of March, due to which the self-service time at branch libraries stops at 7 p.m. The system update is set to be completed on Monday so that all library services should be in use from 12 noon on Tuesday the 24th of March. Do be prepared for possible disruptions in services on Tuesday the 24th of March.
During the system update reserving, renewing and the payment of charges or updating customer information won’t be possible. Vaski online catalogue can be viewed during update, but availability information won’t be visible. E-library services will be running as normal. Do remember to renew your loans or return them on time to keep the late fees from accruing over the system update.
Meet the Prime Minister in the Main Library
The Main Library will however host a special guest during closure as the PM Petteri Orpo visits the Main Library’s Studio on March 23rd from 5 –6 pm. This occasion is a part of a string of The Prime Minister in the house - themed library visits that started in the autumn of 2025. Discussion will cover the subjects of culture, competence, the meaning of literacy and more widely the Finnish society and its future challenges and key success factors.
