The outdoor swimming pool season is just around the corner, as Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium opens its doors on 13 May. Samppalinna will remain open this year until 18 October 2026. Kupittaa Outdoor Swimming Arena will be open from 5 June to 13 September 2026.

Turku residents will get to enjoy an exceptionally long outdoor swimming pool season.

– Our customers have often wished that outdoor swimming pools would stay open longer in the autumn, and this year we are able to respond to that wish. Due to the renovation of Impivaara Swimming Centre, clubs and schools will also be using the outdoor swimming pools more than in
previous years. We hope that our facilities will meet the needs of a wide range of customers as well as possible, says Roosa-Mari Neitola, Manager of Swimming Facilities.

Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium is open until mid-October

The outdoor swimming stadium is open from 13 May to 13 September on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6.00 to 20.00, on Wednesdays from 10.00 to 20.00, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.00 to 19.00.

Opening hours will be reduced in the autumn from 14 September to 18 October. You can swim on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 6.00 to 18.30, on Wednesdays from 10.00 to 18.30, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9.00 to 17.00. Lively water exercise classes will be held on Tuesday mornings at least until 8 September in the shallow end of the large pool, where participants can stand on the pool floor.

– We aim to keep Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium open until mid-October. Autumn weather and the progress of the renovation at Impivaara may affect the opening period. We are hoping for mild autumn weather so that the outdoor swimming pool can be used safely, says Neitola.

Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium is a refreshing oasis in the heart of the city. The pool area has two pools. The large 50-metre swimming pool provides excellent facilities for fitness swimming, water running and diving. The youngest members of the family can splash around in the small pool area, which also has a slide. Samppalinna’s changing rooms and saunas keep visitors warm on cooler days.

Movement throughout the summer

In Turku, you can exercise throughout the summer. Free outdoor fitness
areas and gyms with an entrance fee make it possible to keep up fitness training during the summer season as well. The gyms at Kupittaa Sports Hall, Petrelius, Paattinen, and Varissuo can be accessed with an exercise wristband or with a single-visit QR code.

Impivaara Swimming Centre will be renovated from 25 May to 26 October 2026. During the renovation, Impivaara Swimming Centre will be closed. Petrelius Swimming Hall will also close for its summer break on 25 May and reopen on 1 September. In the autumn, Petrelius will have longer
opening hours than usual until Impivaara reopens.
