Students in Turku have a wide range of housing options close to the campuses and the city centre. Prices are more student-friendly than in most other cities. It's still a good idea to start looking for housing early on.

Turku Student Village Foundation

Turku Student Village Foundation (TYS) builds, renovates, rents and maintains housing for students, who are studying at secondary or tertiary level. TYS has about 5,000 apartments for about 7,000 residents in 17 housing locations around Turku.

You can apply for TYS housing if you are a:

  • full-time student at a secondary or tertiary level institution in Turku
  • high school student or a student in a vocational school
  • trainee

 

The largest number of apartments are located in the Student Village, which is located right next to the University of Turku, close to the beautiful exercise paths by the Aura river. The Market Square is two kilometres away, the campuses less than a kilometre.

Student Residence Tavasthem

Tavasthem is the Åbo Akademi Student Union's own residence in the centre of Turku, a stone's throw from Åbo Akademi University.

Tavasthem has around 40 apartments, most of which are studio apartments. The building also has a gym, a student restaurant and a sauna, among other things. At Tavasthem, you can dwell by yourself or take part in joint activities with other residents.
