The City’s joint fireworks are traditionally arranged on Samppalinnanmäki and for children in Kupittaanpuisto. Please remember what it means to party responsibly and that there is a prohibition area for fireworks in the city centre.

Even though it is generally permitted to let off fireworks between New Year’s Eve at 18 and New Year’s Day at 2, the Rescue Services have prohibited the use of fireworks in the city centre and in some other parts of the city.

Responsible firework usage

Fireworks bring happiness and a festive spirit, but please remember your responsibilities:

  • Only a person over the age of 18 is allowed to use, buy, and possess fireworks
  • Carefully read the product’s instructions and follow them
  • Use safety glasses
  • Do not use fireworks in the prohibition areas
  • Take other people and animals into consideration
  • Choose an open space away from buildings and flammable materials
  • Do not use fireworks while under the influence of intoxicants
  • Clean up after yourself. Do not leave waste from the fireworks behind
