Turku Mayor Minna Arve is participating in MIPIM, the world’s largest real estate event, in Cannes, France, from 11 to 14 March. During her trip, the mayor will take part in several roundtable and panel discussions with political leaders and city developers, and investor meetings in the real estate sector. The goal is to explore new investment and partnership opportunities to support Turku's growth.
MIPIM is the world's largest real estate event, bringing together decision-makers and developers from Europe's leading cities, as well as investors from more than 2,000 companies globally. In addition to European cities and regions, there are investors from the United States, Canada, South America, the Middle East and Asia. Last year, the total assets managed by MIPIM participants exceeded EUR 4 trillion.
MIPIM annually gathers leaders from the real estate industry, investment sectors and politics from all over the world to discuss solutions to the challenges cities face due to climate change, political and economic uncertainty. According to Mayor Minna Arve, it is essential for Turku to be part of this dialogue to promote change towards more diverse, safer, smarter and more sustainable urban development.
– The foundation of the future city is sustainable growth in the long term. Turku is one of the world's leading climate cities, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2029 and becoming climate-positive thereafter. This goal serves as a guiding principle for the growing city, which is being led sustainably and systematically through key development projects, says Arve.
Arve views participation in the event as a significant opportunity to highlight the city's unique investment opportunities in discussions with global real estate investors.
– Turku is home to several major development projects that are creating new investment opportunities. The expanding Waterfront District is being transformed into a vibrant cultural hub anchored by Finland’s oldest castle. The dynamic employment and knowledge cluster at the Science Park includes housing and state-of-the-art research and office spaces, serving Turku's rapidly growing economy and population. The city's downtown area is continuing to expand to the Railway Yard District, which combines residential, office spaces, public transport connections and a unique experience centre, Arve adds.
During her three-day trip, Mayor Minna Arve will participate in several panels and roundtable discussions with leading decision-makers from European cities, a meeting of the global mayors’ C40 network, and private meetings with representatives from various cities and real estate investors.
