Turku in the summer is the number one destination for families with children! These tips will help you plan a relaxing day with the perfect mix of sports, play, creativity and just lazing around.

Morning: Kupittaa and Seikkailupuisto

Start the day at Seikkailupuisto, Kupittaa. This park is a paradise for children as it has a variety of play areas and exercise equipment. Don't forget take a ride in the Traffic Park and greet the chickens, turkeys and sheep that live in the animal park every summer!

Children's Culture Centre Färi offers inspiring art workshops and performances. During the summer, participation is free of charge and no registration is required.

If the weather is already getting hot, head to the Kupittaa Outdoor Swimming Arena for a refreshing dip in the pools. Or if you're feeling adventurous, you can let it out on the Kupittaa BMX track.

Midday: the picturesque riverside

After playing in the park, you can enjoy lunch and dessert admiring the beautiful Aurajoki scenery. The riverside is full of nice cafés and terraces that serve delicious food and drinks.

If you're feeling a little tired, Turku's atmospheric main library, right on the riverbank, welcomes you to relax on the sofas with books, toys and board games.

Afternoon: Luostarinmäki

After recharging your batteries, the journey continues towards the beautiful Luostarinmäki Museum Quarter.

The museum has something special for children: Children's Luostarinmäki. The cottage, Little Watchmaker’s Workshop, and the Children's Shop, as well as engaging activity stations invite the whole family to play and experiment. At the same time you can learn about the daily life and history of Luostarinmäki.

Psst, don't forget to pop in the sweetshop!

Evening: Ruissalo

For your last stop of the day, head to the Ruissalo Island to enjoy the wonderful nature. On the island's many paths and nature trails you can admire the old and mighty oak forests and the stunning ornate villas of old times.

Saaronniemi Beach is a shallow and child-friendly sand beach. If you like, you can book a sauna at the campsite reception. Spend the evening splashing, building sandcastles and playing pirates!

There are also public barbecue spots near the beach, so you can end the day with a nice family barbecue.
