Flexibility and good holiday benefits
When you work for the City, it is easy to combine work with the rest of your life. Flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work, where the duties allow it, support a good work-life balance.
The City of Turku also offers long holidays: up to 38 days per year, depending on your work experience. And Saturdays are not counted as holiday days!
Equality and non-discrimination
Turku is an open, active and international city that sees bilingualism as a strength and an opportunity. Turku also promotes equal treatment and equality for all people, both among residents and in the City’s operations.
We encourage people of different ages and genders, as well as people belonging to linguistic, cultural or other minorities, to apply for jobs at the City!
Developing together
When we ask our employees what the best thing about their work is, they highlight the great work community. You do not have to work alone – in a large organisation, there is always an expert to help you.
As an employee, you have opportunities to develop your skills. The City also offers its employees a wide range of training and courses, as well as opportunities to participate in various projects and networks. This allows you to build a career path that looks like you!
Employee benefits
As a City employee, you will receive a tyky wristband, which gives you free access to museums, theatres and sports activities. In addition, many companies in the Turku region offer special prices for our employees.
You will also have access to Föli’s commuter card, which makes commuting easy, environmentally friendly, and affordable.
Turku offers a wide range of training opportunities, and our personnel have access to open courses at Turku University of Applied Sciences.
We invest in your wellbeing at work, and the services of our Occupational Wellbeing and Occupational Safety unit are available to you.
The City’s Service Divisions
In the City of Turku’s job advertisements and across the City’s website, you will come across the term “service divisions”.
What exactly are the City’s service divisions, and what is done in each of them? You can read more on the service divisions page:
Recruitment
To promote equality and non-discrimination, the City of Turku primarily uses anonymous recruitment. The purpose of anonymous recruitment is to focus attention on the applicant’s professional competence and work experience.
Anonymous recruitment means that, during the first stage of the recruitment process, answers to the open questions in the job application should not include information such as age, mother tongue, or gender. Although some of this information is requested as background information, it is not visible to the recruiting supervisor in the anonymous applicant report.
