In physical activity counselling groups, a professional guides and motivates you to move in a way that feels inspiring to you.

The group offers easy tips for exercise, good nutrition, mental well-being, sleep and recovery.

You can also take health fitness tests and try different forms of exercise and sports facilities together with the group that you get to know well as the course goes on. You also get to test out a Polar smart watch to track your progress.

Physical activity counselling aims at small changes in the long term. Physical activity counselling includes a six-month intensive counselling period, after which there is a six-month follow-up period.

Who is physical activity counselling intended for?

Physical activity counselling is intended for adults who need support in starting physical activity or increasing and diversifying their levels of activity.

  • if you are a 20–64-year-old and you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or your diabetes risk score exceeds 12.
  • if you are a 65–70-year-old and feel that you do not get enough exercise for your health and well-being.
  • if you are a 20–70-year-old and you have a mobility aid or otherwise need adapted physical activity due to a disability or illness.

Instructions for use

Physical activity councelling groups are organized only in Finnish.

  1. Fill in the application form and select the start dates for the groups that are suitable for you.
  2. Wait for us to contact you. We will contact you by phone to go through the details on the application form. The aim is to make the final decision on starting in a group during the call. If necessary, you will be directed to other services.
  3. The groups start twice a year: in April or May and in October or November. Detailed information about the group is available in advance before the groups begin.
