There are water aerobics and aqua running sessions at Impivaara Swimming Centre during the autumn and winter season.
Spring season 2026: Jan 7–May 26 (not week 8)

Instructions for registering, schedule, and session descriptions
- Sign up beforehand to water aerobics and aqua running through the online calendar.
- The following week’s water aerobics are open for sign up on Fridays at 15.
- The sign-up closes the night before at 20.
Spring season 7 Jan–24 May 2026 (no classes in week 8)
Public holidays, competitions and other exceptional days may cause class cancellations. Any cancellations are shown in the class registration calendar.
NB! The Monday 19:30 deep-water aerobics class will exceptionally run during weeks 3–18 (excluding week 8).
Registration links for Impivaara classes open on Friday at 15:00 the week preceding the class.
The instructor will check attendance and charge the instruction fee from the wristband before the class begins by the pool.

Water Aerobics, Light
- 25 m pool in Juhani, water depth 1.3 m, water temperature 27°C
- some classes are held in the multi-purpose pool Aapo, depth 1.1–1.4 m, temperature 30°C
- 30 minutes of slightly lighter basic water aerobics in the shallow end of the pool; you will be given movement options so you can adjust the intensity of the class
- heart rate is raised and versatile muscle-conditioning exercises for the whole body are performed
- suitable also for beginners, people with musculoskeletal problems, and those with mobility limitations
- NB! Sign language interpretation is provided at the Thursday class at 10:00
Water Aerobics, Vigorous
- 25 m pool in Juhani, water depth 1.3 m, water temperature 27°C
- 45 minutes of vigorous basic water aerobics in the shallow end of the pool
- heart rate is raised and versatile muscle-conditioning exercises for the whole body are performed
- suitable for those who have practiced water aerobics for a longer time and/or have a moderate level of basic fitness
Water Aerobics for Overweight Participants
- multi-purpose pool Aapo, water depth 1.0–1.4 m, water temperature 30°C
- 45 minutes of basic water aerobics; you will also be given movement options so you can adjust the intensity of the class
- heart rate is raised and versatile muscle-conditioning exercises for the whole body are performed
- suitable also for beginners
Deep-Water Aerobics, Vigorous
- 25 m pool in Juhani, water depth 1.8 m, water temperature 27°C
- 45 minutes of vigorous deep-water aerobics using buoyancy aids and resistance equipment
- heart rate is raised and versatile muscle-conditioning exercises for the whole body are performed
- basic swimming ability is required
- suitable for those who have practiced water aerobics for a longer time and have a moderate level of basic fitness
Aqua Running, Vigorous
- 25 m pool in Juhani, water depth 1.8 m, water temperature 27°C
- 45 minutes of vigorous aqua running
- running techniques are practiced in different ways; heart rate is raised with interval sets, and muscle-conditioning exercises supporting running may also be included
- basic swimming ability is required
- aqua running belts provided by the facility are used; personal belts may also be used
- suitable for aqua running enthusiasts looking for a vigorous workout

Hydrohex devices are available for use with the standard entrance fee. The devices cannot be reserved in advance.
Large screen TV
- features a variety of versatile water aerobics and workout programs
- the shared Hydrohex exercise screen is located at the shallow end of the 50-meter pool, where the water depth is 135 cm
- select programs using the remote control located at the poolside
- the screen is available during the facility’s opening hours (except on Wednesday evenings from 19.30 onwards)
Small portable screen/tablet
- features a variety of versatile water aerobics and workout programs
- available to borrow from pool supervision staff
- the device is available during the facility’s opening hours
- can be used, for example, in the multi-purpose pool or the 25-meter pool (excluding times when other instructed activities are taking place)
Large screen in the teaching pool
- intended for families with children
- features content such as learn-to-swim exercises and playful activities
- the screen is available whenever there are no swimming lessons or other instructed activities in the pool
Aqua running can be practiced independently at all swimming facilities of the City of Turku. Aqua running belts can be borrowed free of charge at Impivaara Swimming Hall, Petrelius Swimming Hall, Samppalinna Outdoor Pool, and Kupittaa Outdoor Pool. The use of personal, clean aqua running belts is also permitted.
It is recommended to ask the staff for tips on learning proper aqua running technique.
How to sign up for individual water aerobics sessions

1Choose the session you want in the weekly calendar
The sessions spots always open for registration on Friday at 15.00 the week before the session.

3Save the information
Your sign up will only register for you, when you have saved the information.

4The system notifies you if you got a spot
The notification about a spot or a full group appears on the screen. You also get an email verification if you have given the correct email address.
Together with the verification, you also get a link, which you should use to cancel your registration. Cancellation is possible until 19.00 the day before. After this, you need to call the swimming surveillance at 040 648 5338.

5Show up
The instructor checks your attendance before the session starts and checks the fee from your wristband.
