When you're visiting public swimming halls and outdoor pools, always follow the rules, staff's instructions, cleanliness and good manners.

Age limits

  • People who cannot swim and children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult who can swim.
  • The minimum age limit for the gym is 15 years. 13–14-year-olds can exercise under the guidance of a guardian or coach.
  • Children over the age of 7 must use their respective changing rooms.

Hygiene

  • Wash yourself thoroughly before entering saunas and pools.
  • Remove swimwear before going to the sauna or taking a shower (does not apply to the Kupittaa Outdoor Swimming Arena).
  • Wash your hair or wear a swimming cap. Keep long hair tied up.
  • Use your own bench towel in the sauna.
  • You may only enter the pool wearing swimwear. Swimwear must be clean and made of swimwear fabric. Underwear is not allowed under swimwear.
  • Swimming shorts and burkinis are allowed.
  • Babies must use swimwear only (no swim diapers).
  • Do not shave body hair or dye your hair in the dressing or washing facilities.
  • Avoid using fragrances.
  • Only wear clean indoor shoes in the washing and pool areas.
  • Swim and exercise only when you are not sick.
Blue and white permission symbol

A blue and white permission symbol on swimwear or wristband indicates that the swimmer is allowed to use swimwear in the sauna and shower. In this case using swimwear is justified and most commonly due to health reasons.

Safety

  • Lifeguards supervise public order and safety.
  • Children are always at the parent's responsibility. Staff supervision does not lessen the responsibility of parents or guardians to look after their children.
  • People who cannot swim and children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult who can swim. The adult must supervise the child in the pool or from the poolside staying in the child’s immediate vicinity. The supervising adult must wear swimwear.
  • Free diving is prohibited (over 25-metre dives, long dive series and breath-holding in the water).
  • Running and other disturbing or threatening behaviour is prohibited.
  • The physical and mental integrity of other people must not be violated.
  • Appearing intoxicated, possession and use of intoxicating substances, as well as smoking and snuffing are prohibited in all premises.
  • Do not bring food or breakable bottles into the changing rooms, washing or pool areas (outdoor pools allow bringing your own snacks).
  • Behaving in a way that violates sexual decency is prohibited (Chapter 17 Section 21 of the Finnish Criminal Code).

Photography

  • It is illegal and forbidden to film in toilets, saunas, washing areas and changing rooms (Chapter 24 Section 6 of the Finnish Criminal Code). Filming in other areas only with staff's permission.

Supervision of the rules

The staff is responsible for the supervision of the swimming pool rules. If you observe any violation or misconduct, please report it to the staff.

The staff have a right to warn the client and remove any person, club or community that is breaking the rules or disturbing the peace.

Violation of the rules, ignoring staff instructions, illegal activities or misbehaviour may result in being banned from the facility for a fixed time period. No refund will be made for any prepaid visits that expire during the ban.

If needed, the staff will provide more information. Have a nice and safe time!
